Through the integration of the participating volunteers into the community of Taroudannt and their work in a number of institutions, the project aims to:
Working with the young people
of Taroudannt
• create durable benefit for the young people of Taroudannt by means of educational and other socio-economic development work
• establish ties of friendship between Moroccan and UK communities, undoing negative stereotypes of Western people held by North African/Islamic populations- and vice versa
• educate the volunteers who participate in the project about Moroccan everyday life and the richness of Arabic/Islamic/Berber/Moroccan cultures
• provide volunteers with a deeper understanding of the difficulties involved in working abroad, specifically in development; and
• offer volunteers a unique work-experience opportunity in teaching and working with underprivileged youth
